War shirts were special shirts which were presented to the warriors who had done great deeds of bravery. They were known as shirt wearers.
These shirts also were believed to have special spiritual powers that would be transferred to the wearer. They were usually made with elk hide, beadwork or quill work, and paintings.
These are miniature war shirts portraying a real one worn with a breastplate.
